Geology, the largest “supporter” of evolution, actually gives the theory the biggest problem. Many theories of rock formations and even the fossil record, which are based on the evolutionary model, are contradictions to the theory that they are supposed to support. The field of geology is not limited to the rock formations found upon the earth, but they also deal with the placement of our planet. This all presents a problem for the evolutionary model. The earth is a very unique planet, which is positioned at just the right distance from the sun so that we receive the exact proper amount of heat to support life. The other planets in our solar system are either too close to the sun or too far from the sun to support life. Any appreciable change in the rate of rotation of the earth would make life impossible. John Montgomery in Evidence for Faith states, “ If the earth were to rotate at 10% its present rate, all plant life would either be burned to a crisp during the day or be frozen at night” (115). Another unique thing about the earth is that the temperature variations are kept within a reasonable limit due to the near circular orbit of the earth around the sun.
