Teaching
How does a teacher become a teacher? A teacher must go through many years of schooling, to become a teacher. The teacher must have a credential or a license to teach in America. The future teacher must attend college and take the courses need to become a teacher. Also in the career of teaching there is always a job for the pupil seeking the career choice of being a teacher. Teaching is also a very rewarding career, it may not be the highest paying job, but the satisfaction of knowing a child has learned how to read, write, spell, and math. The definition of teaching is to instruct, to educate, to discipline, to impart knowledge of (Allee,381). That is what a teacher does every single day in his or hers classroom. There are many different types of teachers, there are preschool, elementary, secondary, and high school. The type of teaching career I would like to be is the elementary school teacher. I feel that the elementary teacher would be the most rewarding for me, because the youngest years of the students life is the building block of their education. The students learn the most during that time because of all the questions they ask and they want to know and how things work and why we need them. So there are more interes
You will not just be teaching subjects to children in elementary school; you will also be helping them grow socially and emotionally (M. Eberts, M. Gisler, 16). This statement made by the two authors is very true, elementary school children are finding themselves and the teachers are helping the process along. The process of helping the children is much easier then the process of becoming a teacher. Teachers and students have things in common, some teachers still go to school, study, and even take test. Same as the student's in their classes. Many states require that teachers eventually obtain a master’s degree (k-6educators.about.com). The test that the college student takes to become a teacher is called the PRAXIS test (www.csus.edu). This test is the most widely used test (www.csus.edu). At least two thirds of states use some form of the PRAXIS series (www.csus.edu). Acceptable test scores ranges are set individually by the states (www.csus.edu). How does a teacher become a teacher? A teacher becomes a teacher by hard work and dedication. A teacher needs to like young children, have patients, will to show up to work early each day to set up the class, and to grade papers on his/hers own time. The future teacher will spend many years in college to become a certified teacher. The many years in college will be worth in it in the long run. Teaching is one of the most rewarding careers in the world. What other career could one person take a child and teach them how to read and write and all of the basic skills needed in everyday life? Not many careers can say I have helped secure our future for our children. There this saying on a billboard for C.O.C it says, “ Teach kids need real heroes”. Which is very true, kids need positive adults in their lives. And this is why I chose to become a teacher, and why teachers became teachers. The requirements it takes to be an elementary school teacher. Most states require the aspiring teacher to have completed four years of accredited college work and have to achieved the bachelor’s degree to be certified to teach (Hopke,495). Most of the states require the elementary teachers to have majored in elementary education (Hopke,495). So basically if the future teacher has a bachelor’s degree him or her can be a teacher. There are specific classes you must take to become a teacher and
