As this story unfolds I see an attribute of loyalty that most men lack. He is a loyal worker at his job as a clerk in the office of the Board of Education. After reading “The Necklace” one might think of Mr. Loisel as a fool because he paid sixty times the actual cost of the necklace. But, one must remember that he did not know that the jewels that his wife had lost were false. Although some readers may not think too highly of Mr. Loisel, I believe he is a faithful, hard working, and caring person. Even though he made some mistakes, I can’t say that most men could have done better.
