The Controversy Of Capital Punishment
The Controversy of Capital Punishment There have been many controversies in the history of the United States. Ranging from women's rights to gun control, but capital punishment is one of the most widely contested issues in recent decades. There are three main points concerning capital punishment. Capital punishment save money. Capital punishment strikes fear into offenders, by deterring would-be killers And finally, courts do not make mistakes and wrongly accuse innocent persons. Critics of capital punishment sometimes argue that the expenses involving executions is substantially more than the cost of life imprisonment. The costs of appeals and legal counseling are the main expenses for the both of them. There are three problems with this argument. First, such financial calculations a life with out parol can cost anywhere from $1.2 to $3.6 million dollars more than a death penalty case (Sharp). Second, even if this is a true analysis of the cost of capital punishment in the United States and other developed countries, it is not representative of the cost of criminal executions worldwide. Indeed, one might reasonably expect that in many developing countries executions are substantially cheaper than life imprison

Being more cautious would save lives and keep it safer. ment costs (Gottfried 3). This shows that capital punishment is accepted and is used wold wide. Finally, even if executing criminals is more costly than life imprisonment, it is not immediately obvious that the extra expense either contributes to a greater balance of social unhappiness or even tips the balance towards unhappiness. Society may actually be pleased with, or at least content with, the value it is getting for its capital punishment dollar. Those who favor capital punishment say that why to keep a murderer in prison and feed him for the rest of his life from out taxpayers money. Why do this when we can take his life for taking another. Also the death penalty is a long and costing process . A prisoner can spend a long time is prison w
