The Perfect Student

What is a successful student? Well, certainly every college has their image of a successful student, or rather "the" successful student. It is the student that they want to attend their college, walk down their halls and call their name alma mater. At some point during a student's high school career they must define the successful student for themselves. .
While considering this there is the obvious answer. The student with the 4.0 GPA and the 1600 SAT scores is the best, for they have achieved the most. But looking again would show they only accomplished more on paper and in faceless numbers.
Others when asked might respond it is the student who learned the most. This, the second candidate, is also very worthy of the title of successful student. But even here is the search complete? This pupil may still hold a low GPA, and may have done horribly on their SAT's as far as any descent college is concerned.
A third student who may not claim the title in dispute, but may be the rightful owner none the less is one whom not all may notice. This nominee may well not learn the most nor be the most decorated scholar. This student may struggle in a couple of courses, while excelling in others. However, there is one thing that sets him apart. His thirst for knowledge. Every day this successful student wakes up eager for the next opportunity to broaden his horizons, to solve that equation and to interpret that piece of literature. And though other less caring students certainly don't consider him to be the best, in so many ways he. He is the lone student deserving the education so generously bestowed upon him. While others scoff at the teachers, longing to return to a warm bed or a sunny beach, this student listens intently and proves that no teacher is wasting his or her time. This student is also tired, he also would like to be other places at times, but he wants to learn and takes advantage of his opportunities.
