This is my favorite piece of work done by Poe. The raven is a dark gloomy poem about how he misses his love Lenore. This poem is about Lenore, who is his wife, who died of a hopeless illness. This poem is built around the word nevermore. I think the meaning behind this is that Poe will never see Lenore again and wishes some day he could but just won't happen. .
Through the poem Poe changed his ways a bit. He first started out that he was weary of the thought of Lenore until a tapping came upon his door. And every tap on his door, that brought him closer to the remembrance of his love, Lenore. Also through the poem he saddens quit a lot because he has witnessed no one at his door and he thinks its Lenore's Spirit. .
Poe also feels frustration, being troubled and his in a mood of sorrow. Poe has the color of mourning hanging in his room. Purple curtains, which represents mourning and death. He sits in his house reading forgotten lore and mourns about his lost loved one, Lenore. This feeling of sorrow is getting him scared of what his emotions and his mind are thinking. .
Poe shows a little happier side when the bird appears. Poe smiles in sight of the raven. Then Poe asked the raven what his name was who stalked the nightly shore, and the raven said nevermore. The ravens name was nevermore, and that's all the raven could say. The bird's old master only said nevermore to him, and that's all he can remember. So Poe then took a padded chair and sat face to face with the raven, thinking of what this fateful bird's past has in store. Poe kept on sitting, guessing the meaning of the raven. The raven gave Poe some hope of seeing Lenore, but when the raven said nevermore, Poe's feelings fell behind and into the raven's shadow. .
Towards the end of the poem, Poe gets deep. Everything changes about him, his attitude, feelings and his thoughts. His depression grows deeper, and he links everything that he talks about to Lenore and the fact that she is gone.
