Thomas Edison

Thomas Edison is probably the most well known inventor. He invented 1,093 inventions in his lifetime, the most famous, obviously, being the incandescent light bulb. Edison was born in Milan, Ohio, on February 11, 1847. As a child, Edison was very curious and loved to try new things. He worked as a gatekeeper at his father's observatory and also sold newspapers on a railroad. When he was only 22, he patented his first invention.

Thomas Edison's laboratory was in Menlo Park, New Jersey. His many inventions made him a great success. However, he did not do it alone. He had many helpers that worked with him all day in the laboratory. Some members of the group included Charles Batchelor, John Kruet, Ludwig Boehm, and Francis Upton.
