Mrs. Doubtfire and Kramer vs. Kramer have lot of similarities and also quite a few differences between the two movies and the characters. Even though one is a comedy and one is a serious drama, the two movies are basically about two women that are very unhappy in their marriages and basically want out of a bad situation. When you really think and reflect on both movies, you get a sense of what the directors are trying to convey to the audiences, but yet they have taken different approaches to reach their audiences. In Kramer vs. Kramer, directed by Robert Benton, it is a movie that more adults will watch, because it is a serious drama, whereas, Mrs. Doubtfire directed by Chris Columbus, is a movie that a whole family can watch together because it appeals to all age groups and it’s a good comedy. Each movie is in effect stating how divorce and immaturity of parents can have an effect on our children in society.In Mrs. Doubtfire the mother, Miranda Hillard, was the more serious parent.
