The Wild Girl

A Book Review On Michelle Roberts Book Called 'The Wild Girl' Curiosity led me into choosing this book for my review. The picture of a faceless woman, naked from the neck down to the waist, painted in white cracked statue-like colour, long thick golden brown hair hanging over her right side breasts down to the abdominal filled the front cover of this book giving it a strong mysterious statement.

The statement, to my perception was bold and may have represented a spiritual feminine movement and so inspired me to read on. My curiosity grew larger as I read the quotes on the back cover.

teaching and her relationship with him. This is a book of

revelation, for it unveils a new and radical Christianity,

She finishes her book of legacy and buries it under a tree hoping that it will one day be found by the rightful hands and she sets off with some of her followers sadly leaving her daughter behind, into the wilderness to spread the word and was never heard of since.

On the last page of her book, Roberts quotes:

"She who dug up and found and copied this book is the

What was she implying by this quote? Is she trying to reinstate a truth in her story? Well Roberts has achieved that very well throughout her book. It was only when until I had finished reading this book that it daunted on me that this book is fiction, it is a story of imagination applied with some gospel text and rumours with no real truth in it. This was very interesting, as her use of rich words in some parts of her book seemed very real. She keeps a reader alive and moved in most parts but some parts heavy going and too unrealistic. Some of the words used in revelations told by Jesus were confusing and hard to make sense of and her description of the mother Mary, God, Sophia and the Ignorant one was not distinctively made clear and should have been included. Roberts’ writes that Jesus was half masculine and half feminine and cleverly refers this to the soul and the body connecting and becoming divine. Other than most of these gestures, this book presented some powerful words with regards to reclaiming spiritual and sexual strength for women and that it should not be ignored.

As the chapter unfolds she returns to Bethany, her hometown without answers, but was moved on meeting a man who valued women as equal. This man was Jesus. He taught peace, love and understanding. He brought Mary closer to her sister Martha and brother Lazarus and they amongst others fellowshipped with Jesus and his disciples. Mary grew emotionally, and sexually connected towards Jesus and he returns his love equally. They spent much time reclaiming strength and expressing spiritual connections with each other. Jesus gave Mary the authority to be heard a
