To achieve model student status, one must first be present. A student can’t possibly be aware of what assignments are to be done, how the instructor wants them to be done, and when they are due. Most important, one cannot take advantage of the vast array of knowledge the University of Phoenix has to offer if one is not present. This is just one way to achieve model student status.

Another way I can achieve the status of model student is to participate in class-room discussions. Don’t just be bumps on a log. Join in the discussion. Everyone can benefit when this happens. Not only can you learn from others but also others can learn from you. So, why not share your knowledge? Everyone has some.

My mother always told me “Eat your vegetables.” I always preferred the meat and desert. Vegetables didn’t always taste good but they are always good for your health, an essential part of your diet. Why settle for hamburger when you can have steak? Why settle for a Volkswagen when you can have a Mercedes? Why just graduate when you can graduate with honors? Don’t settle for being mediocre or average. Shoot for the moon and if you miss, you’ll be among the stars.

Model student. What is a model student? Model: defined as one who is held up as an example to imitate. Student: defined as one who seeks knowledge by way of extensive study of a specific subject, generally in an academic setting. So, a model student is one who, through their outstanding works, dedication, and commitment is looked upon as an example for others to follow. Is the model student looked upon as an example only in an academic setting? No. In fact, one of my goals as a University of Phoenix student is to serve as an example to my husband and children. I want to show them, while I’m still a student, I can, not only be an excellent wife to my husband but also a loving, devoted mother to my children. I want them to see that I am not just tirelessly striving to reach my academic goal; I am shooting for the moon and actually hitting it.
