Accounting


            Accounting is the study of how businesses track their income and assets over time (Careers-in-Accounting). Accounting is also a measurement of discipline (Buckly19). It is concerned with the use and disposition of economic resources (Carrington&Battersby17). Accounting information is useful only when it serves as a guide to human action (19). .
             The second aspect of accounting information is that it relates explicitly to a defined group of economic resources under common control, or ownership, or associated with some given set of activities, rather than bout resources in general (18).
             An accountant is defined as someone that practices for her profession by reviewing, formatting, and processing a companies or a personal account. Along the way an accountant has learned the theory of accounting. Accounting is systematic, that it as a continuing process, with either a periodic or continuous output of information (18). Just like every other profession there are certain step that must be taken before you become and accountant.
             A lot of education is needed to become an accountant. At the least you need a bachelor's degree in an accounting major. In most cases four years of college in an accounting major are required. "Some employers prefer applicants with a master's degree in accounting or a master's degree in business administration with a minor in accounting" (American institution of Certified Public Accountants). .
             Any previous experience in accounting will increase the likely hood of obtaining a job right out of college. College internships are a great way to gain experience in the field while still going to school. An internship is usually a summertime job setup by the college for the student to work at accounting firms. .
             Most states require that college students be Certified Public Accountant candidates. Also referred to as CPA. Due to comments made by American Institute of Certified Public Accountants requirements to enter the field were bumped up.
