Ambrose was even chosen to act as the historical consultant for Steven Spielberg’s movie, “Saving Private Ryan”. After the novel was published, Ambrose used his ties in New Orleans (Ambrose is a retired professor from the University of New Orleans) to found a D-Day museum there.
