They also knew all about the ways that they were going to act while they carried out their plans. They also planned how they would react when everyone else figured out what was going on. Hamlet did plan his insanity. He did so because that was part of his plan to avenge the death of his father. Ophelia planned her insanity as well so that everyone else could feel guilty that her father, Polonius was killed. She mainly directed that act to Hamlet, since he was the one who murdered her father. Claudius and Queen Gertrude put together the whole murder of King Hamlet simply because Claudius was cruel, and wanted more than what he already had. He was greedy and jealous of his brother. The death of King Hamlet is what caused the deaths of all the other characters, and the conflicts between them. Claudius, King Hamlet's brother, was jealous of King Hamlet. The murder that was committed by Claudius against his brother was planned. Claudius very carefully planed it. He did not plan it alone. He had Queen Gertrude involved in the murder as well. He had Queen Gertrude distract King Hamlet so that they would go into the garden. Once that was done, King Hamlet was lying down, and fell asleep. Then, Claudius poured the poison into King Hamlet's ear. Claudius was guilty of not just committing the murder, but planning it ahead of time, Queen Gertrude was just as guilty because she allowed Claudius to use her, and did not try to stop his plans. Ophelia's father Polonius dies in scene 3, act 4. At that point, she has decided to act insane as well. Her insanity was more believable than Hamlet's because she continued to act insane.
