For my assignment in English class I was told to watch a television show that involved social issues that concern me. The television show I watched was Dawson’s Creek. While watching the show there came up an issued that concerns all teenagers. They started talk about sex before marriage. It was basically about a girl that really wanted Dawson to take her virginity but he but didn’t want to do anything to hurt their friendship between one another.
In the show Dawson the main character had a friend that was a girl that had a crush on him. She never told him she liked him but some how Dawson found out and confronted her. Since she was a friend of his he wouldn’t feel comfortable having sex with her. He wouldn’t want to do anything to mess up their friendship. He told her that if she wanted to lose her virginity that she should do it with someone she loved. In my opinion the way he dealt with this was in a very mature and effective way.
Their was many ways in which this episode effected me. One way in which it effected me is that ill never look at my close friends that are girls the same anymore. The reason I wont look at them the same is because the girl in the show has liked him for a while but never got up enough nerve to tell him. So how am I supposed to know if my close friends that are girls like me as friends or is it something more. In fact there I have friends that are girl that act the same to me that the girl in the show did to Dawson so that kind of scares me. Another this show has
