When faced with the scent of women men always seem to lose all reason and logic. Their brains become mush and immediately resort to their basic primal instincts. For example, in the Knight’s Tale, the carpenter believes the flood. No matter how outlandish or unreal it may seem to the reader, to the man it seems perfectly logical. The man wants to trust whole-heartedly that the women would never deceive him, so when a situation is presented where a lie may be used, the man is blinded by his love. This is also brought about when the carpenter believes the flood. He is also stupefied and dumbfounded and believes anything that women would tell him. This is another example of how women bring about the downfall of men.

No matter the cost, no matter the struggle, men will always fight and defend themselves when a woman is in the picture. As long as there are both genders on this planet there will always be a power held in the hands of the women. Men are not afraid to show their love and if that means endangering themselves then so be it.

However, a counter argument to this would be that males are lazy and choose not to fight in defense of a woman. This can be quickly refuted by discussing the story of the wife of bath. No matter the man, she will win his infatuation. Even if he is that laziest man on earth, he will fall under her unique spell and do what ever she bids. This power that she has over men is astounding and seems to always bring men out of their laziness. She always seems to “get her man,” and they always seem willing to lose their self-respect and sometimes life for her love.
