In 1926, RCA became one of the largest companies in America. The radio technology company began in Camden, New Jersey. It was there that it grew from a narrowcasting communication, to a broadcast. This is because it produced the National Broadcasting Company, also known as NBC.(13) RCA was joined together as a company with owners from General Electric, Westinghouse, AT&T and United Fruit, along with many other small portion owners.(13) Work in Camden was very efficient and non-confrontational for the employers at first. After time, the workers were upset with their wages for the amount of work that they were putting in. The employees began to strike and form unions. RCA did not want to deal with the

COMO tried to keep the Mexican workers interested in still working in the plant. No matter where the plant was, the owners wanted to keep the workers “young, female, and inexpensive.”(160) The woman in Mexico did not feel so insulted without power in the company. In contrast, in America woman feel that they should have equal rights, therefore, RCA realized this before settling over the boarder. RCA kept it’s employees hopes up by setting up the seniority statuses. If you were the first hired, you were the last fired.(160) RCA soon built a new larger plant in Mexico because of how good the labor was.

Luckily, a little before the plant in Bloomington shut down, RCA built a plant in Cuidad Juarez. There were three main reasons for moving to Mexico for labor, “…(1) availability of labor, (2)low unit labor cost, and (3)favorable labor relations.”(116) This was a great move for RCA because of the excitement that the Mexicans had about the new work. Many of the men of the families already was traveling up north to America for work, but the woman jumped at the opportunity immediately. Another plant was made on the American side of the border also so that RCA could go around certain taxes that Mexico was going to place on them. RCA was lucky to have so much work, but the workers were not necessarily educated. In Juarez, there was segmentation by sex and a controlled and divided labor movement. There was also competition between two national federations. The national federations were the Revolutionary Confederation of Workers and Peasants, also known as CROC, and the Confederation of Mexican Workers, or CTM.
