Changing Teachers Salaries
During nine months out of the year, millions of children worldwide go to school every day and learn new and important information. These children sit in a classroom and actively listen and participate to different ideas and adventures that challenge them. Some day, these millions of children will be taking on the world and will become our leaders. They will lead us in important decisions, or save our lives when we need them the most. Perhaps then someone will ask them why they did it, and why they decided to become what they are. The response could be about someone that influenced them many years earlier. Maybe this person was their educator, a person who influenced their life and dedicated his or her life to helping these children grow and learn. As I become closer to choosing my major in college, I examine the possibilities of becoming a teacher. My neighbor also shows me the boxes that fill her basement with cards from students and other various treasures she has received from teaching. The pressure of teaching sometimes can get the better of people. People don’t make enough money and need to pick up second jobs or just change careers completely to make the money they need to survive. However, if they go into the career with the attitude it takes to be a successful teacher, they shouldn’t have to make decisions as harsh as changing careers to make a living. Simply raising the salary could allow them to stay in the career they love and have the money to support themselves financially. Understanding what a teacher does on a daily base is an important reason to look more closely at the issue I wish to help change. Teaching is one of the greatest jobs today. People deserve to earn a decent salary because of the work they do. Take
