Clm Paper
CLM stands for career life management, which is an apt name for this course, it has taught me many things about how to deal with situations and the things I have learned here will most likely stay with me for the rest of my life. When I first heard of CLM the course was unfamiliar to me, seeing as none of my older siblings had ever taken the course I did not know what to expect, however I have been very pleased with the course. When I tell people about my CLM course they are very intrigued and wish that they had had the course when they were in school. CLM is a course teaching you how to learn, that may sound strange to some but it is very simple, CLM teaches you what you need to know so that you can study well and learn and work to your maximum potential. This essay will explore what I have taken from my CLM course with Mr. Payne and how I can and will apply what I have learned. The first thing we learned about was goal setting and different types of goals you should set and why you should set goals. Goal setting is key to achieving something, if you do not set goals you will not know what you have to do to achieve what you want to. Stress and stress management was a very large portion of our course this year because it is a large problem affecting many people. Stress is an imbalance between perceived demands on you and your sense of your ability to cope with the stresses. Reduction of stress can only happen by either you becoming surer of yourself in your perception of your ability to deal with the stresser; the other is to reduce the stresser itself so that your sureness of yourself can cope with the stresser. Stressers are the pressures that create internal and external signals that suggest that you cannot cope with an event or situation that you are faced with. Stress is a strong feeling of frustration, which can sometimes become a feeling of guilt, anger, hurt or fear, sometimes stress can become so bad that a person cannot function at all until the stress has been relieved, this is sometimes known as strain. There are three fields that all kinds of stress can be sanctioned into, negative/positive stress, traumatic/daily stress and conscious/unconscious stress. With the negative positive stress your body cannot tell the difference between the two, all it knows is that something has happened which has caused you to reach in a powerful manner. Traumatic and daily stresses are quite different, traumatic stress is a stress that has appeared quickly and is unexpected and usually has a greater physical effect on your body, an example of this would be a loved one dying or winning the lottery, daily stress is a stress that you have to deal with on a daily basis, this kind of stress usually has less physical effect on a person because they are used to such stresses, and example of daily stress would be having to get your homework done or getting up early in the morning. Last there is conscious and unconscious stress, unconscious stress is stress with an unknown source, conscious stress is stress with a known source.
