Adolescents with Stress

The adolescent years are in the middle of the most stressful times in a person's life. Adolescence is the time of life when children change into adults. They are going through puberty, meeting the changing expectations of others, and coping with feelings that may be new to them.
They have more responsibility and freedom than they did as children. But they have less responsibility and freedom than adults do. Their thoughts, behaviour, and social relations are all changing radically. The rate of change varies from person to person. .
There are a number of reasons for an adolescent to feel stress. These include: .
             v Problems with peers .
v Family issues or problems with parents: .
             v School-related problems or pressures .
             v Death of a loved one .
             v Move to a new home .
v Injuries or severe illness .
v Child abuse, or sexual abuse .
v Family or community violence natural disaster.
Symptoms of stress vary and often a mixture of systems is seen. The physical problems seen include: sleeplessness or excessive sleeping, frequent illness, heart palpitations, high blood pressure dizziness & headaches. Other symptoms may be withdrawal, depression, and uncontrollable emotions, aggressive acts, anxiety, irritability and low self-esteem. How people respond to these experiences can reduce or put in to their general levels of stress. It is important for these symptoms to be recognised at an early stage and that managed help would need assisting.
No single approach is best for all the situations of all people. In fact a blend of strategies would be most effective in these stages. These can be put into categories, which include:.
Exercise, because exercise promotes emotional well-being as well as physical fitness.
             v Power walking/walk.
             v Runningjogging.
             v Skipping/boxercise.
             v Swimming.
             v Sports.
Mainly these exercises would be good to get into a routine every morning or when you have free time on your hands.
Diet: General health and stress resistance can be enhanced by eating well and by avoiding intake of alcohol, caffeine, tobacco and junk food.
