Is there a valid distinction between killing and allowing to die, of course there is? If a person walks up to a jogger in the park, and takes his life, against his will, whether it viciously or quick and painless, it was still not authorized by the victim. That is why they are considered a victim. To kill, is to put to death; slay, destroy; nullify; cancel; veto; neutralize. As where allowing to die, is following ones wishes to end their life, and perhaps helping them. It is their decision, their choice, and their life.
