Suppose, however, that we could be deceived by an imperfect power. A being of similar or lower substance may bestow an idea upon me that is false, however I perceive it as true. This imperfect power, in essence would have greater objective reality in their ideas than I have formal reality. We may be deceived only by a being with greater objective reality. The only being that has more objective reality than I have formal reality is God. Therefore, God is the only being that may deceive us and “God is not a deceiver and has not given me a faculty for recognizing the eminent source of such ideas” (p 52). God is a perfect being, therefore we may only be deceived by a perfect being. This only further strengthens my argument being made that there is no possible deceiver who can prevent me from discovering the truth.
