I was adopted almost as soon as I came into this world. Beautiful, as smooth as silk, not to be conceited but simply a sight to be seen. As I remember, from the very beginning, the couple that adopted me always treated me with love and tenderness. I would always be full, never thirsty, always receiving toys on a regular basis. I never complained and I never made a sound when they took me out. They would always keep me washed and clean and I remember other people admiring me when they saw me.
I remember going on many trips from a very young age. My adoptive parents loved to travel and wanted me to experience traveling with them. I remember once going to Lake George in upstate New York. It was such a gorgeous ride. There were smooth roads, beautiful trees, along with marinas and other scenic views on the way. On the way there we made a few stops. My stepparents ate, however, I did not eat because I was only thirsty, and therefore I drank quite a lot. The trip was about six hours and I was not tired at all when we arrived; I felt relaxed and rested. .
The first few years of my life were all very much the same. I was happy, my stepparents were happy, and we continued to travel which sometimes lasted a weekend or sometimes longer. I recall one trip when I was about five years old, maybe six. I was taken cross-country to California, which was a very long trip and a bit uncomfortable. Into the third day of the trip I became cranky; I started to fuss and for the first time my adoptive parents lost their temper. They started yelling and at one point even used foul language. Eventually, after they calmed down, I overheard them say that they needed to drop me off and leave without me. You can imagine how I felt. Here I am six years old, somewhere between New York and California, and they are leaving me. Needless to say, I felt scared and confused. I remember pulling into a building with a small parking lot and a man in a uniform came over.
