Your assumptions were correct, there needs to a better communication policy and Gosh Enterprises. No business is immune to terrible communication whether it's between customers or employees. In the long run better communication would be an investment for Gosh Enterprises.
Gosh Enterprises problem with communication can easily be fixed. The solution seems rather clear: implement a new enhanced communication program, have your staff get to know one another, and have your staff greet the customer as if the were the only one.
There is no magic wand to wave to enhance communication at Gosh Enterprises. This effort will need to be addressed at all levels of operation. Moreover, good communication only leads to more trust and productivity.
