If a teacher elects to give an entire class an A whether or not they show up, is that his or her prerogative? Or is it dishonest, educationally destructive and morally wrong? I can defiantly say that most people would agree with me when I say it is not only deceptiveharmful to the student, it is unethical. A college professor is paid to not only teach but force the students to strive for their grades. If that is not accomplished, the professor has not done his job.
When the professor hands all students the same grades he deceives a large number of people. He first deceives his boss, the Dean, a delegate of the taxpayers. The Dean expects his professor will do his job regardless of tenure.
