Sexual intercourse with one’s partner is to some a way to express your emotions and to some a way to take the relationship to another level. In some cases the results of sexual intercourse can be unexpected such as pregnancy or sexually transmitted diseases. There are however many ways in which to help prevent such mishaps. Pre-marital sex is a topic that is heavily discussed among teenagers. Some teens engage in sexual intercourse with their boyfriend or girlfriend and some are quite promiscuous and have sex with a number of partners. In some cases people do not see anything wrong with pre-marital sex as long as the correct precautions are taken so as not to have unanticipated consequences. Others prefer to abstain from sex until marriage. There are a number of different opinions on sexual intercourse before marriage. The practice of sex before marriage by teenagers should be discouraged.

The condom and birth control pills are the forms of contraception most widely used. They are not 100% effective and not all protect against the spreading of STDs. There are many myths about STDs, which numerous people believe. STDs can be transmitted both orally and through intercourse. The rise in STD’s in teens is because of this lack of knowledge. Many teenagers believe they are somehow immune to STDs because they are too young to get them. What they turn a blind eye to is that at least 3 million of the STDs reported each year are from teenagers. Through premarital sexual intercourse teenagers are engaging in sex with various partners as they move from relationship to relationship not knowing that they could be contracting and/or spreading a disease. Sexual education in schools mainly teach adolescents about precautions they can take when having sex and need to focus more on discouraging from having sex and abstaining until marriage. This would decrease the number of STDs spread amongst teens and decrease promiscuity and premarital sex.
