Federal Intern or Federal Playmate
Our federal interns are being preyed upon by government officials. According to an article by an author in the May issue of the Laurel Leader Call, entitled “Remains Identified as Chandra Levy’s, Ending Long Search” has brought to a close the long, agonizing search for Levy. Levy, a young federal intern, mysteriously disappeared thirteen months prior and has not been seen or heard from since. Gary Condit, a representative from California, admits having an affair with Levy but denies knowing anything about her untimely disappearance. Levy’s remains were discovered by a man and his dog while walking through Rock Creek Park looking for turtles. The manner and cause of her death has yet to be determined. If our federal government officials would stop preying on these young interns there would be no room for doubt or speculation when something disastrous happens, as in the death of Chandra Levy. Our government officials need to restore trust, honor, and dignity back in themselves as leaders of our country. Americans need to know that their leaders are trying to protect our rights and privileges. But most of all our young people who go to them to promote their careers need to know that they are going to be safe. Our government should not be the proverbial “wolf in sheep’s clothing.” They should instead be our protector against such evils. This horrible tragedy should be a wake-up call to our federal government that some changes should be made.
