Being Victor was raised appropriately and had been loved all of his life he did not know how the monster was yearning for affection. While Victor ran away not caring for something that was his. The monster being all alone grew very angry and Victor mistreating the monster led the monster to become an abuser himself. He then turned on all those who treated him unkindly. “As I said these words, I perceived in the gloom a figure which stole from behind a clump of trees near me, I stood fixed intently, I could not be mistaken. A flash of lightening illuminated the object and discovered its shape to me, its gigantic structure and the deformity of its aspect, more hideous than belongs to humanity, instantly informed me that I was the wretch the demons whom I gave life. Could he be the murder of my brother, it crossed my mind and I was convinced of its truth my teeth chattered I was forced to lean against a tree for support.” (69) The creature was punished by everyone for his appearance and when he was not able to feel love he turned to punish other and hurt them deeply. He was never taught right and wrong so he acted through his feelings. He was very frustrated and did not know where to turn next so he decided to get revenge to his creator. The monster came to the reality that no one wanted him and that he was never going to be appreciated as a being.

Victor does not have any shred of parenting in him at all. He doesn’t want to love and care for anyone besides himself. He was very selfish in the fact that all he wanted to do was create life by studying death. He never thought of the consequences because he was to engulfed in himself. At one point Victor actually felt that he was a parent because he was worried about death, “Death snatches away many blooming children, the only hope of their doting parents, how many brides and youthful lovers have been one day in the bloom of health and hope, and the next day a prey for worms and the decay of the tomb!” (183) Most parents can not run away and are extremely important for healthy, happy, growing and mature children. The creature also the “child” in the relationship was left alone and never had an older figure to learn and experience life. His protector ran away from him and the creature was left to survive on his own. Unlike a parent who would care for a deformed child, Victor runs away and pretends to not even know the creature. Even though the monster was deformed and not a normal looking being he was created by Victor who did not even want to accept him. He leaves all of his parental responsibilities without a care about what would happen to the monster. The world can seem like a very scary place to large for someone new to explore on their own. As a normal parent when they first see their child they rejoice but Victor was repulsed by the abnormal physical appearance. Victor mistreats the creature from the beginning and the creature becomes an abuser himself. Victor understands that the monster is beginning to follow him he is quick to abandon the monster that cannot take care of himself. “I had desired it with an ardour that far exceeded moderation; but now that I had finished, the beauty of the dream vanished, and breathless horror and disgust filled my heart.” (49) This is where Victor shows how he is a very self-centered person who only wants to create being but not deal with the life that the being will live afterwards.
