Do people learn language from their environment or are they born with an innate ability to speak? Can people learn a language at any time in their lives or must they learn to speak when they are young? That a parent could lock their child up in solitary confinement for thirteen years is just an awful crime. Genie made remarkable progress during her time with the Children’s hospital. Still though she would never be able to live a “Normal” life due to her early experiences. It is sad to think that something like that could ever happen. What is even worse is to know that the people who did that to her were again able to have custody of her.
