I got up early in the morning as usual. I had set a completely new path for jogging the previous night so as to expend greater portion of my accumulated fat as well experience something anew. .
With rejuvenated zeal and vigour, I was jogging up and down the muddy road, maneuvering through the potholes, and turning my eyes above intermittently so as to appreciate the azure morning sky with wisps of cloud scattered around after nearly two days of incessant rain. It was after about ten minutes jogging I came to a temple where I was put to a halt. Suddenly I froze: my heart turned into ice and my bowel into water. A skinny dog, with strip tied around its neck, which was gamboling around the Peepal tree darted towards me barking. It started going around me barking as though it was imitating the worshippers circling round the Peepal tree. The dog was dreadful: it had emaciated body with the colour resembling that of an Alsatian. I collected myself and shouted in a commanding voice, "Whose dog is this? Who let this ugly blood-thirsty beast roam around here freely?" A woman who was circling the Peepal tree flashed a sudden glance at me as if she was jerked by my shout and next moment she averted her eyes with deliberate indifference. By the time the dog had retreated and I traced my way walking slowly so as not to draw its attention again. After I walked a few meters, I turned around instinctively and there she was calling her dog not knowing that I was looking at her. I was jogging again and at the same time brooding about the incident that lately occurred. I was put to a second halt before as much as ten minutes had elapsed− this time it was by a congregation of stray dogs: few skinny ones were sitting at the corner of the pavement whimpering and other sinewy ones were standing in a front row howling incessantly presumably at an alien dog.
But now days, tamed dogs have become a greater nuisance.
