Both the Neo-Classical and the Romantic styles of art do a very good job expressing the times that they were produced in. Neo-Classical art was more historical and political, representing the ancient past and the ideals of the ancient Roman empire. Romantic art was vivid and colorful, and it evoked many emotions and feelings. While both styles were different, neither could get away from their past influences, and this was seen throughout almost all of the paintings. Yet, both Neo-Classical and Romantic art managed to maintain an individual style characteristic of their own times.
