Harry Potter

I decided to use Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, for my paper. There are a couple of problems with this, like, it was a book that was then made into a movie, and the other is that it is set in England which I don’t know that much about, except that they like to drink a lot of tea with their pinky finger pointed out. Aside from those two problems, this is one of my favorite movies, well along with Star Wars, and the Lord of the Rings. I want to look at a lot of things with movie, like the how they portray the muggle world verses the Magical world, how they use lots of camera angles, lighting, and music to help show us what we should be thinking at certain times in the movie, how they help us like and dislike certain characters, and how hard it was to make a movie out of a book that is so anticipated.

Having two different worlds in a movie is hard show, especially when one is completely make believe. The editor of this movie did a remarkable job with distinguishing the muggle world from the magical one. At the beginning of the movie, we start out in the muggle world, and we see a lot of plain colors like dull blue, brown, white, and etcetera. It also seems like the director uses a flat lighting her, to give the a

Now with many of the teachers we perceive them as annoying teachers, except there are a few instances when they come down to the human level. Like when Harry mad the house team, and McGonagall bought him the broom. Up until that point, you thought that she was this stiff old lady that really didn’t care about the students, but after she sent the broom, the viewers sough that she was nice after all. Also, with many of the teaches, to show that they were important; a lot of shots would be looking up at them. Then some would be of their back to show the class of kids, unlike many movies, where that type of a shot would mean something different.

Then of course we have Malfoy, who is a spoiled brat of a kid. You know that he is a shady character whey you first see him with his air all slicked back, and his two side kicks that look like some of the players from the Albion football team, i.e. not too much up top. His voice is annoying, and the way that he says, “Potter”; you just want to slug the kid.

Now lets look at some of the characters in this movie, starting out of course with Harry. In the beginning of the movie, we are looking down on him. Harry also has broken glasses, and old clothes that he is wearing. Then we are looking up, when they do a single shot at any of the Dursleys. Making it apparent that they are better than Harry, according to them, and in the muggle world. We are instantly sorry for Harry and want to see him succeed and get away from the Dursley’s. Then when he goes to the Magical world, the viewers find themselves cheering when anything good happens to Harry, because we knew how bad he had it up until his 11th birthday.

ppearance that this world is not real.

Now of course we are going to like Harry’s friends, but what about his enemies and teachers. His number one enemy is Voldemort, and the audience hates him because he killed Harry’s parents and so he had to go and live with the Dursleys. We also understand to fear him, because people are so scared of him that they won’t even speak his name. Then when we finally do meet him, he is this gross looking thing on the back of one of Harry’s teachers head. We also don’t like him because he wants to kill Harry, and we love Harry. Also, look at Voldemort’s voice, its like finger nails on a chalkboard.
