Healings Of Jesus
This paper is highlighting parts of the four gospels Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John regarding the healings of Jesus. These books were written back in (30 C.E. to 70 C.E.). Oral Tradition is the thinking how information was passed down from generation to generation. Oral Tradition includes memorization, parables, and passing down the same stories repeatedly. The gospel Mark tells stories about Jesus many remarkable healings. Just touching Jesus’ cloak healed the woman who was suffering from a severe hemorrhage. Jesus knew someone had touched him by the power of her faith. I believe he was testing her faith, and that he was aware that it was she. The gospel Mark also reveals Jesus’ powers of healing in the story of Simon’s mother suffering with a high fever and weakness. Jesus touched her and told her to rise and she was healed. Another story is of the blind man who went to Jesus for help, when Jesus touched his eyes and said “Ephphatha” (to be opened), the man was able to see. A person’s faith is very important. The book of Luke explained how the lady who was bent over and unable to stand straight who was bound for eighteen years due to Satan and was healed by Jesus’ touch. Back then they did believe the problems were due to evil spirits or Satan not medical conditions. During the biblical days many were not diagnosed due to lack of knowledge and technology. Mental illness wasn’t really known as that but as a demonic possession instead. They thought any strange behaviors were due to evil spirits. God is not a punishing God. He allows things to happen, but we are not punished for our sins. In John 9:2-3 it states, His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned;
