In ancient Greece there were many Greek Philosophers. There were 3 that were the most important. Their names were Socrates, Aristotle, and Plato. These 3 philosophers had a big impact on Greece during ancient times. They taught about ethics, life, and religion. Many of their ideas have been passed down through the centuries. Their ideas and teachings are still used today in modern life. Aristotle was born in 384 B.C and died in 322 B.C. He was considered one of the great thinkers of the ancient world. He was born in the city of Stagira in Macedonia. Aristotle was very good friends with Plato and when Plato died he hoped to get his philosophy academy but it was handed down to Plato’s nephew Speusippus. Aristotle’s works of philosophy encompassed major areas of thought such as logic, science, metaphysics, ethics, and politics. In 367 B.C Aristotle was convicted of
impiety, which is disbelief in the gods. He said “That he would not let the Athenians sin twice against philosophy. He was charged as a anti-Athenian and a pro-Macedonian. To avoid Socrates fate he left Athens in search of new life with his friend Herpyllis. Aristotle died of a digestive virus in 322 B.C. Plato was the youngest son of Ariston and Pericitone. Plato contributed to the Peloponnesian War. He was said that he did not want to have a military career, but a political career. In 403 B.C there was a restoration of democracy in Athens and Plato had great hopes that he could enter politics. However the extremes of Athenian life persuaded him to give up politics. What really made Plato give up politics was the execution of Socrates. After Socrates was executed Plato left Athens and traveled to Italy and Egypt.
