There are many instances where people need the government to support them such as being elderly, physical illnesses, low-income jobs, single parent, uneducated, unskilled, loss of income and many more instances where welfare help is needed. Many of the mothers did not live on AFDC alone and did not report the extra income to the welfare department. The remainder of the income came primarily off-the books employment. This did not mean that they were living well just trying to establish more than the AFDC provides. There are many controversies with the system, fraud, abuse of the system may overturn and often reduce the amount of support the government offers to welfare recipients.

I do oppose the abuse of the system and a change is much needed in the system and with mothers who receive the income but what can really do? I feel that lawmakers can come up with other ways AFCD, TAFN can help the poor seek employment to reduce the amount of welfare they receive.
