Human Evolution

Human evolution has puzzled man for many years. Human curiosity has made us wonder where and how we came about. I believe human evolution has happened and will continue to happen. I believe in human evolution because the fossils found as evidence, the way humans compare to some other living organisms, and the way we will continue to evolve.

The first reason I believe in human evolution is the great amount of evidence we have. Paleoanthropologists have discovered parts of skeletons that date from 4.5 million years ago all the way up to present times. Parts of a hominid named called Ardipithecus ramidus was found in Africa in 1995. This is the oldest hominid know at about 4.5 million years old. It is not known if this species is an ancestor to modern humans. As the years progress we see other species of hominids appear. By the clues of fossils we can see a change in the each species. The newer hominids were bigger than those before. Their cranial capacity was also appearing larger. A. africanus (2.3 to 3 million years old) is a descendent of A. afarensis (3 to3.9 million years old) and is larger and heavier with a slightly larger cranial capacity of 430-550 cm3. A. robustus and A. boisei (1 to 2.6 million years

In conclusion I believe that humans have evolved over the last 5 million years and will continue to do so. The great amount of fossil data, the comparison of us and other similar organisms, and the way humans will continue to evolve are all reasons that I believe in human evolution. Human evolution has many different theories. The one that you accept is up to you.

ago) have larger teeth and heavier skulls. Their cranial capacity is about 450-600cm3. Not only have we found skeleton parts to show human evolution we have also found tools and paintings that show other forms of evolution. H. habilis (1.6-2.5 million years ago) is the first knows hominid to use tools. There have been numerous tools found that probably helped these hominids survive a little easier. Tool marks on animal bones found near the hominids suggest that these people ate meat as part of their diet. H. erectus (1.8-500,000 years ago) are believed to be the first hominids to travel out of Africa. They had a cranial capacity of about 700-1,250cm3 and were about5’7” tall. Charred bones have shown that H. erectus used fire. H. sapiens appeared about 800,000 years ago. It is believed that H. sapiens arose while H. erectus was alive. H. sapiens did not completely replace H. er
