Kip Kinkel
Kipland “Kip” Kinkel was fifteen years old when his violent ways achieved their climax. On the night of May 24th Kip Kinkel killed both his parents. The next day, he drove his parents’ car to school, and opened fire at his schoolmates while they were in the cafeteria. He killed two and wounded another twenty-two before he was brought down by his classmates; this was the outcome of an entire life of deceptions, problems and misunderstanding. Parents should know all the facts in their children’s lives, which may develop into dangerous issues. In this case, Kip’s parents were never able to communicate and understand Kip. They should have paid extremely close attention to every aspect of their son’s life to avoid such an outcome. Bill and Faith (Kip’s parents) are the ones to be blamed in this situation, for they were never able to admit their son needed more help than they thought. Parents should know how their kids think, and how they are living. What kind of things they are interested in, and what is wrong with them. With this knowledge cases like Kip’s could be avoided.Kip’s relationship with his father was never too satisfying. From the first moment, Bill was dis
Another aspect to consider is the lack of limits Bill and Faith put on Kip. They never got into his activities. They didn’t mind the kind of music Kip listened to, like Marilyn Manson, or other hard rock bands, which lyrics inspired nothing, but violence, hate and sadness. This was no good for a person like Kip, who somehow was lacking guidance, and was extremely emotional. Furthermore, he used to surf the Internet without restrictions. His parents would never come inside his room to check on what he was doing. With time, we would find out that he used to go into sites, in which people would learn how to make “home-made explosives.” he would also learn how to build up weapons, and where to acquire them. Actually, even though the Kinkel home had been described by Kristin as “A violence free house, where aggression was a big no-no” Kip was sent to Tae-Kwon-Do lessons, and therefore, violence was encouraged in him. A time bomb had been created (Rowles 6). appointed with Kip. He expected the greatness that had been following the Kinkel name, and instead he found out that his kid had some problems. The doctor described the problems as “Dyslexia and advanced A.D.D (attention deficit disorder)” These problems didn’t allow Kip to read and spell correctly, and that’s why he had to be held up for a year (Rowles 3). Moreover, Bill always looked at Kip, and though he tried not to compare him with Kristin, his sister, he couldn’t. This was always undermining and hard for Kip, who always tried hard, but it never seemed enough. During the scene when the whole family goes out to the country and Bill is filming, Kristin did all kind of acrobatics, like handstands, or flick-flacks. When Kip tried later, he couldn’t do anything right, and the disappointment could be heard in Bill’s voice, when he said “Don’t worry Kip, you’ll get them…” (Rowle
