Macumba is a mixture of Catholic and African religion developed among slaves and their descendants. Macumba is really popular amongst the inhabitants of the lower class of urban ghettos of Brazil. Christianity sees and understands this religion as trafficking in the forces of evil. Macumba is a polytheistic religion and a belief in various different kinds of spirits. This religion is related to many dimensions mentioned in the study of Religion. Three main ones of them are: mysticism, religious experience and ritual.
