Mark Twain was born on November 30, 1835 and died on April 21, 1910 (Bloom, P 48). He was born in Missouri, Florida. His parents were John Marshall Clemens and Jane Langhorne Clemens. His original name was Samuel Langhorne Clemens until he became a professional writer and adopted the name Mark Twain. He also began his writing in the 1850’s.His father John Marshal Clemens was the judge for the town of Hannibal, Missouri. Twain was a great writer, and it showed in his work. He had made an impact on people in his time and his work still has a high impact on people today. His work has inspired many writers after his lifetime. When he wrote in the pessimistic and deterministic tone that gives you an idea of what kind of person he really was. Many people enjoy humoristic writing in which I am one of those people. In the beginning of his career his writing was very humorous but after the years past by his writing slowly changed to the pessimistic style of writing. “The Man That Corrupted Hadleyburg,” and many other of Twain’s stories are still enjoyed by many people today. Mark Twain is greatly know for his humorous and deterministic writing.

From there he moved to Nevada with his brother to explore mining possibilities, and continued on to San Francisco where he worked as a journalist. Twains earliest works includes a series of letters published in regional newspapers about the risk and adventure of the life on the frontier was dangerous. At that time in his writing career, he peppered most of his letters and over exaggerated on them. People would believe them until they found out otherwise that what had happened was over exaggerated on and wasn’t near what he said had happened. Twain first appeared on February 3, 1863 in a piece he contributed to the Virginia Territorial Enterprise. In 1866 Twain took a trip to Hawaii. There he furnished articles for the Sacramento Union and materials for the first lecture on his return in a long successful career as a public speaker (Bloom, P 49). In 1867 Twain published his first book and it was titled, “The Celebrated Jumping Frogs of Calaveras County,” and other sketches as well. Twain’s earlier novels, short stories, essays, and public lectures poke fun at human imperfection with delight and cordiality.
