When a hypnotized person recalls memories during a hypnotic state, there is no way to know if his memory is what he really perceived. Out of all the tests done in this area of hypnosis, there has not been a hypnotist or test that has been able to decipher if the memory was correct or not. The researchers would have to know the truths themselves before they could know if the memory was correct. When retrieving a long-term memory there are many principles that set limits on the degree to which any attempt to recover a long forgotten memory can succeed such as, encoding, organization, and reconstruction. Still there is no test to see if they play an active part of recalled memories during hypnosis. The courts do not use testimony of people that have been placed under hypnosis. Another point to the unreliability of recalled memories during hypnosis, is that a person who has been lobotomized, a person who has received massive electroshock treatments, a person who has taken enormous dosages of mind-altering psychiatric drugs can, a person who has suffered substantial organic brain damage can testify can all testify in court; but a person who had been competently hypnotized by an experienced licensed professional who carefully followed strict guidelines to avoid undue suggestions, cannot testify in court (Tayloe 27). This shows how unreliable memories of hypnotized person are.

There are other problems with age regressed people. They tend to act like the age they are suggested to return to. After many years of research, we are able to tell that the age-regressed people are only acting how they think a six or seven year old might act.
