Michael Jeffrey Jordan was one of five children born to James and Delores Jordan on February 17, 1963 in Brooklyn, NY. A few years after Michael was born, his parents were concerned about raising their family on the mean streets of Brooklyn, where drugs and violence could become a way of life for those unable to resist temptation (1). So instead of trying to endure the streets of Brooklyn, the Jordan family moved to Wilmington, North Carolina.
