There seems to be a problem nowadays with attendance in some of the higher-grade levels. Skipping class or not showing up to school is now a common practice among high school teenagers. To solve this problem I propose a new organization to the public education system.
High School, first of all should be optional. Since it is mainly reverberating the basic principles instilled in children from primary school and middle school, high school should be optional for all those who wish to attend.
However, one must complete all four high school grades in order to seek higher education. Standardized test will also be available for advanced students. They will be used to place advanced individuals in appropriate grade levels or to send them directly into post secondary education. .
High School classes will be formatted to be very similar to collegiate courses. Attendance will be optional. All material covered in; in class lectures is the sole responsibility of the student to learn. All students will receive a syllabus on the first day of classes that lists course content and all mandatory attendance days. .
This new educational format will be beneficial to all students. Those who wish to work may, advanced students can study on their own, and more conservative minded students could stay in class to acquire all possible knowledge. Disruptive students will now longer be an issue, because only those who wish to be in attendance will be so. Overcrowding in schools will also be drastically reduced. Teacher shortage will no longer be an issue, and all in all every teacher and student will lead a much happier educational career.
