Alabama Concert Report

Alabama a band which many people know of as one of the greatest bands of Country music today, as well as many years ago. Alabama has been playing together for many years now. Until now when they have decided to make this year their last year for concert tours, Alabama playing their last tour called the Alabama Farewell Tour. They played at the Hyundai Pavilion at Glen Helen on October 3, 2003.

The band Alabama consists of four band members: Randy Owen, Teddy Gentry, Jeff Cook, and Mark Herndon. Randy Owen is the main singer, rhythm guitarist, and harmonist. Jeff Cook is the second main singer, the backup signer, plays the violin, fiddle, guitar, harmonica, keyboard, bass, and banjo, and mandolin. Teddy Gentry is the vocalist and bass guitarist. Mark Herndon is the drummer and percussionist. These band members will tell you themselves they are not the only people who make up the band during concerts. The group Alabama has four other members who are only Tour Musicians. These four are Larry Hanson, Dino Pastin, Chris Walters, and Paul Binkley. These band members come from all over the United States but met and started the band in the s

To play Mountain Music there was a guitar, saxophone, drums, harmonica, and a fiddle being played, as well as a vocalist singer to make up the tone color. Which also tells us that this song is like the rest, a homophonic-presented piece.

As the music started on the breezy night of October 3, 2003, the fans rose to their feet to dance with the beat of the music.

As Alabama began to play Roll On Eighteen Wheeler the rhythm was slow which lead into a faster beat. The drums and keyboard give the beat of the song. The words of this song start out slowly sung then lead into a faster pitch tone, which went along with the music. This song is a homophonic song, which is presented very well to the audience. To make the tone color of this piece there is a guitar, drums, they keyboard, vocalist, and a Bass being played.

Another song that was sung at the Farewell Tour was Dixieland Delight. Giving a great beat to move to. Fast paced beat, and a fantastic presentation up on stage. This piece was presented to the audience with the tone color of vocalist, guitar, harmoni
