My Neighborhood Before And After The Events Of September 11th

My Neighborhood Before and After the Events of September 11th.

September 11th was a big shock to the United States. No one was expecting it. Everyone had their TV channels set to see what was going to happen next. After the two planes hit the World Trade Centers, a plane landed in Pittsburgh, and the buildings collapsed- a war started. Our whole country was scared. People were scared to fly in an airplane because of the tragedy on the 11th of September. In my neighborhood, people are more patriotic, they all watch the news for the updates on the war and are also looking at life a little differently and change their way of characterizing a hero because of how many lives were lost and after the events of the 11th. Because of the September 11th tragedy, the United States of America is more united than ever.
Almost everyone in my town has American flags flying out front or attached to their cars. They also have window stickers of flags and sayings, such as "God Bless America," and "United We Stand." This all shows their support to the United States while we are at war and also to remember the victims and their families that were effected by the September 11th events. The U.S. has grown closer because of 9/11. .
After September 11th, everyone watches the news and reads the paper everyday to keep up with what is going on in the Middle East and they are more aware of the events that take place. When there is a "Breaking News" story on the television, everyone is watching, whether it is about the war or not. Everyone knows what is going on here and now and other places also. We became more aware of our surroundings after September 11th.
After the 11th, Americans" outlook on life changed along with the definition of a hero. We now live everyday to the fullest and appreciate being with family. The tragedies of the 11th were hard to deal with and people were declared "missing." Now that there is no hope left, there are funerals with nothing to account for and burials without that person being there.
