The substantial effects of a consistent weightlifting program in ones daily activities include both mental and physical rewards. Multiple physical and mental benefits make this hobby chosen by many. From ease in daily activities to increased self confidence, weight training has rewards that suit almost anyone’s needs.

The physical effects of weightlifting are great in magnitude and probably the initial reason a person becomes involved in this activity. The thoughts “ I wish I was stronger, healthier, and better looking” have echoed in almost everyone’s mind. Weightlifting has immediate rewards for anyone wanting to turn those thoughts into reality.

For one, having a daily routine of lifting weights will greatly increase one’s strength. This might not be a primary incentive for all, but this aspect of weight training benefits has major input on daily activities. One will find that after the first couple of weeks of training that walkin


g up that dreaded flight of stairs in his/her large office building no longer is accompanied by the infamous foe fatigue. Also, along with one’s new strength, he/she might find a new hobby or sport along with the glories of increased strength. That weekly neighborhood game of basket ball might be much more enjoyable if one doesn’t have to worry about collapsing due to being out of shape. Finally, one of the greatest benefits of increased strength from a scheduled trip to the gym is greater defense against the possibilities of a physical attacker. We all hope that this will never happen to us, but the dangers of being attacked by a stranger ( or a friend/ family member) are a real possibility. Being able to defend oneself in this type of situation is an excellent benefit of being physically in shape.

Finally, the mental rewards of weight training are just as great as the physical benefits. All of that muscle strength, increased muscle mass, and burned excessive calories that were previously discussed as physical benefits add up to one o
