Nosferatu
F.W. Murnau’s Nosferatu was the first film of its kind. This film created the mold for all future horror films to come, though many variations will come, this will still remain the basis. The entire film was done is low light, and even blurry to a point. This may have just been because of the poor equipment of the times, or another tool of the trade to instill the notion of wonder, what exactly is that on the screen. The film was filmed almost entirely on location also, this is a much better method for trying fool the audience into thinking its not a movie, that’s a real castle, not some painted cardboard.
