A Network Performance Between Unix And Window NT

A Network Performance Between Unix And Window NT

It is very difficult to build a good and stable network. It requires a lot of engineers to build a system that will provide the best service and fulfill the needs of companies’ clients and users. In order to build a stable network, there are many choices have to be made. The toughest choice that the I.T. managers have to make is which server platform they should choose. Before they make the decision, many questions have to be answered first. Which server software is worth for the price? Which one is more stable? Is the software easier to administer than the others? And the most important question is, which one is more secure? Microsoft Window NT and Unix are widely used in large commercial. Since both operating systems have very similar functions, people may have some difficulties on selecting one that is suitable for them. By comparing the software, people should know which operating system is better. The comparison is mainly focus on the areas of money, reliability, manageability, and security.

Window NT and Unix can communicate with different types of computers. Also, they can secure the important data and keep the unauthorized users off the computers. Essentially, both W

Because of Microsoft’s great marketing, most of the people believe that Window NT is easier to use than Unix. Unix was mainly designed for remote management. This enables administrators to perform management operations from another building or across the world. Different from Unix, some programs, such as word and excel, can only be run on the physical machine in Window NT. And it is clear that Unix is easier to manage than Window NT.

As the network becomes larger and larger, security becomes more and more important. It is hard to keep data secure. And network administrators must choose a system that it can provide the highest level of security. Let’s compare how Unix and Window NT deal with the issue: Security. Unix uses Ids to identify users, and it uses group Ids to identify groups. When checking whether a user is valid or not, Unix first determine whether the request is from the file’s owner, the file’s group, or anyone else. Then, it uses user permissions, group permissions, or other permissions to set up the user account. On the other hand, Window NT uses security Ids to identify both users and groups. The Access Control List contains one or more access control entries. Each Access Control List contains a security Id that it indicates the user or group and a set of permissions. When performing validation, Window NT just runs the lists of permissions until a denial or the end of the list is reached. Unix is more secure than Window NT.

How reliable is the system? It is a concern for administrators. Although Window NT rarely crashes with entire system, it crashes with individual programs
