During the Commune of 1871, the Cathedral was nearly burned by the Communards. Some stories say that a huge mound of chairs were set on fire in its interior. Luckily, Notre Dame survived the Commune.

I read that the 13-ton bells in the south tower are only rung on special occasions. Did they ring when you were present? : No, unfortunately not.

In my opinion, Notre Dame is an awesome work of art, and that’s not just because I am Catholic, but because it served so many purposes in its long history. There are some things I disagree with. I think that the 13 ton bell, which is located in the south tower should be rung everyday, not just on special occasions, because when people fly across the world to see the magnificent Notre Dame you would think that they would want to hear a 13 ton bell. I know I would. But other than the minor flaw, I give the Notre Dame Cathedral of Paris and “A”. (Even though I never really went to see it.)
