Abortion
Abortion is the termination of pregnancy before the fetus is capable of independent life, can either be spontaneous or induced. It is the knowing destruction of the life of an unborn child. By aborting these unborn infants, humans are hurting themselves; they are not allowing themselves to meet these new identities and unique personalities. Abortion is simply wrong. Tisdale said everyone is raised knowing the difference between right and wrong. Murder is wrong, so why is not abortion? People argue that it is not murder if the child is unborn. Abortion is murder since the fetus being destroyed is living, breathing and moving. Why is it that if an infant is destroyed a month before the birth, there is no problem, but if killed a month after birth, this is a inhumane murder? (1987) Since 1972 when abortion was legalized 38,010,378 innocent children were aborted. The main purpose of abortions is immoral because of the way that they are done. These days, teenagers are getting mixed messages from parents, peers, and media. This is the reason for the increased birth rate. Abortion is being used as a method of birth control. Sixty million abortions are done yearly, and that number only gets higher as more and more countries legalize abortion. These innocent children could one day be successful world leaders. Many times after having an abortion, women will become emotionally unstable. Post-abortion syndrome describes the trauma of the women who finally feels guilty, understands the repercussions of her actions, and regrets her decision. Statistics show that 92% feel less in touch with their emotions or feel a need to suppress their emotions. 82% had greater feelings of loneliness or isolation and 86% had increased tendency toward anger or rage. 53% increased or began the use of drugs and or alcohol. 28% attempted suicide. Depression, anxiety, insomnia, and suicide are all common symptoms women will encounter after an abortion. In 1973, abortion was legalized in the United States after the cases of Roe vs. Wade and Doe vs. Bolton. Norma McCorvey lied under oath, saying that she was gang raped. After her testimony, the jury decided to authorize abortions for only the first three months of pregnancy and allowed abortion until birth if a licensed physician judged it necessary for the women’s health. In the second case, the United States senate judiciary committee concluded that no barriers of any kind would be put on women who chose to have an abortion at any stage of her pregnancy.
