General Motors was founded in 1908. General Motors Corp. (NYSE: GM) has become one of the world’s largest automotive corporation vehicle manufacturers. The company employs 341,000 employees and partners with over 30,000 supplier companies worldwide. GM has manufacturer operations in more than 50 countries. General Motors has interest in digital communications. GM has more than 260 major subsidiaries, joint ventures, and affiliates around the world. GM\'s vision is to be the world leader in transportation products and related services. GM sold more than 8.6 million cars and trucks, nearly 15 percent of the global vehicle market. GM\'s global headquarters is at the GM Renaissance Center in Detroit. Richard Wagoner is the chief executive officer, president, and chairman of GM. Wagoner is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of General Motors.

GM was incorporated in 1915. General Motors has two operating segments, Automotive, communications services and other operations. It is involved in the design, manufacturing, and marketing of cars, trucks, and heavy-duty transmissions. GM is striving to create and maintain an environment that naturally enables the people of General Motors, its unions, suppliers, and dealers to fully contribute and achieve personal fulfillment in the pursuit of total customer enthusiasm. The behavioral viewpoint is shown because they believe that their employees are treated like managers and not just like an hourly employee. General Motor’s employees feel important because they make management decision to improve business. Employees are motivated to speak their mind whenever something is wrong, and to come up with new ideas to improve the organization. An example of the quality view points customer service. No organization is immune to threats. These could be internal, such as falling productivity. Or they could be external, such as lower priced international competition. The threat is really the same across the board for the automobile industry. Competition is huge, in this industry, and nothing hurts a company more than internal strife. Also an impending recession does not smile upon any industry in this day and age. The economy and the treat of war is biggest threat that General Motor has had, The economy has been struggling in recent months, unemployment is up, and the nationally security is threaten. People are far more cautious to buy a new car because they don\'t know what is going to happen next. People are afraid to spend money. Many people are losing their jobs and getting laid off because of the struggling economy. People are saving money instead of spending it on a vehicle. Going to have to spend its way out of sharp downturn in sales. Congress considering temporary tax rebates and accelerate planned permanent cuts will help people have more money to spend on cars and trucks. Another threat that GM has is to be sued. On July 9, 1999, a Los Angeles jury awarded $4.9 billion to six people burned in a rear end collision when the gas tank in their 1979 Chevrolet Malibu, located merely 11 inches from the rear of the car, gushed into an inferno. Being sued could is very costly to a company, and it could cause a company to shut down. Another Threat is when the industry plagued by over capacity, and an increase in demand for cheaper second hand cars, and lastly strict emission norms
