The Arc De Triomphe was built by Napoleon in 1806, and was not finished until 1836. There are four huge projected sculptures at the bases of the four pillars. These honor The Triumph of 1810; Peace, and Resistance. It also honors the departure of the volunteers. Written at the top of the arch are the names of many victories that Napoleon won. As you can see, Napoleon was a very “humble” person with all of the statues of him surrounded on his arc to signify that he was the most powerful at the time.
